Chris Barrett
Hi, I'm Chris. I'm an integrative counsellor with a person-centred approach at the heart of my work. I believe we all have the capacity to work through difficulties when offered the right conditions. Sometimes what we need most is simply a safe space to talk and feel heard.
I offer a warm, non-judgemental environment that invites you to explore your challenges, uncover new perspectives, and build confidence in who you are. At the heart of therapy is the relationship between client and counsellor, a collaborative alliance that provides trust and safety for you to show up as you are and feel truly supported. Together, we create the conditions for you to work through what's troubling you, at a pace that suits you, to develop self-esteem and move toward a feeling of peace with yourself and the world around you.
I have experience working with individuals on issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, bereavement, intrusive thoughts, life transitions, and many other difficulties that might be affecting you.
Much of my work centres on nurturing self-compassion. I believe many of our struggles arise from the way we view ourselves. In our sessions, I draw on a range of approaches to offer insight and helpful perspectives that can help you overcome unhelpful thoughts and meet life’s challenges with greater resilience, understanding and kindness for yourself.
