Phil Leonard

I am a registered member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and an accredited registrant member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I offer short or long-term therapeutic counselling from two locations in Bristol and one in North Somerset. I can also offer online sessions.

My practice is integrative and draws upon a variety of theories and methods, mostly person-centred, valuing your own strengths and resources, and helping you to build a sense of safety with, and compassion for yourself and others.

My style is warm, compassionate and validating and I hold a value, which is that effective therapeutic counselling can only arise from a genuine respect for the quality of the relationship between client and therapist. Most research in counselling shows this to be the case.

My background has been in helping children, parents and families in crisis for many years as a social worker but I now only work with adults.

I can help with most issues (see my website below for details). I have recently undertaken a Diploma in Eating Disorders, focusing on struggles with food, eating and exercise related problems. I also have special interest in attachment related issues and developmental trauma.
